I'm loving this. While I don't really have anything that works in this methodology (though my iPhone does hop onto the wi-fi and I have a printer that utilizes the wi-fi)...it is a great idea. The thought of my television being hooked into a wi-fi network is exciting - no more watching hulu on my laptop screen!

I've got an iPhone...but I don't know that I care to go through the hassle of getting a replacement. Don't people know not to stick their fingers in to pull something out of an outlet unless you've turn the circuit off?

Android in it's current form does seem to have a bit of a beta vibe about it, which I guess can be good and bad thing. I think it has to contain the real wow and polished factor about it for consumers desire and use it for an everyday talk/email/surfing device.

I have to strongly disagree with Reisinger on this. Loading at this juncture just one and in the future possibly a few movies onto a computer is not going to start a new wave of PC sales - no way, no how...nope.

Mr. Cringely has an interesting approach. I have to state that I am against the mandated use of fluorescent lights because of the mercury that they contain (if one breaks you are supposed to evacuate the room). Still, I think his basic approach of looking where we can SAVE money, and thereby stimulate the economy, makes much more sense than the current proposed plan to just dump tons of money into the problem. I also agree that recession is inevitable, its just a matter of when and how bad.

I personally use JungleDisk. Its around $2/mo. for me and I have several gigabytes of data up there. It performs backups and gives me someplace to offload large files I won't be using anytime soon. I also know why Oosah doesn't allow normal files (e.g. text documents) just media files (Lardinois asked why in his post)...at least I think I do. MediaMax (formerly StreamLoad, later TheLinkUp or something like that...) had this nifty idea where they only stored files several times. For example, if you had the latest Britney Spears song and so did 5,000 other people, MediaMax might keep five copies of the file (for redundancy sake). In so doing, they act like everyone has their own copy - but they don't. It allows a much smaller amount of storage to be utilized. Traditional documents (spreadsheets, databases, etc.) are generally unique - this means there is very little opportunity for data-deduplication.

One of the dangers of using an outsourced service...Not saying you shouldn't, just one of the dangers. We use ShareThis and I have used FeedBurner in the past.
