I actually find this idea somewhat interesting - its like interstitials almost. A lot of major sites use them (InfoWorld).

Of course if this were Microsoft, they would be forcing their users to Pay for a inferior product.

:0 Well, I don't plan to be one of the first to use this new technology...lets just say that.

I have to question the validity of this statement - "It turns out the human body is not affected by magnetic fields; it is affected by elective fields" and in doing so question the safety and long term health effects of wireless technology.

It beggars belief, surely it is good PR for the ditty gaining over 600k views.

Woohoo! Now can I get some power with that? I'm generally flying to Alaska (around 10-14 hrs.) and my laptop battery doesn't last (I don't care how good your battery is...and no, I don't want to stow three or four extras so I can last through the trip).

I am excited about this case. The DMCA has become a bat in the hands of content owners and while there is much misuse of copyrighted materials, the elimination of fair use and its rapid persecution is unreasonable.

The 910 looks really interesting. Hopefully the price is really $299. I might pick one up for that price.

It seems like management wants to think that money is not important, but it is, especially for people who have a family.
If I was younger and single, I would probably focus on the latest technology, and job jump, because that leads to more money and more experience (which also leads to more money).
Being a bit older and having worked in IT for over 20 years, I would have to say my priorities are a bit different. I would say my priorities are
1) Job Security
2) Money
3)Vacation time (so I can spend time with family)
4) Working with up to date technology

Agreed. Rural especially needs these services. I know my family still doesn't have high speed and can't get it! I think some of these mesh networks are pretty fascinating as well.

Great article...and I've got to agree with the sentiments. While IT Professionals need money to survive - for many that is all it is - survival. This becomes a larger concern when the techie has a family to care for, etc.

I think there was an article either in IN or somewhere else that I read that Google was going up to bat for this "white space." It boils down to very cool possibilities.

Just wanted to add that Gotreception.com (http://www.gotreception.com) is a great resource for finding out where reception problems are most likely to occur.

This is great, especially for rural areas which this works the best in anyway, and is undeserved by the carriers or not served at all.
Having many options (or paths) for data to flow is a win for everyone (Consumers, equipment manufactures, Google, etc), except for the telcomms. They are the only losers, so they will fight tooth and nail to prevent anything other then their expensive networks.
Hopefully, whoever wins in November rules in favor of the majority and pushes for more ways to get on the net.
