I'm not as opposed to UCE as Gibbs is, but I'll agree with his objection to the deceptive forms.

Just illustrates the need for a good antivirus/firewall program. If you are really paranoid you can always run your browser in a virtual machine.

Hmm...Even with these updates, Elance is lightyears behind oDesk.

Hmmm...Interesting article. Raises questions. Does one get paid to sign a confidentiality agreement? Threatened with a lawsuit? Have a sudden feeling that revealing the issue is unethical?

Pandora seems a top service, they seem to do a mobile version for the iphone/ipod touch but not for window mobile.

It is nice to see it in the uk, if they added a few more cities apart from London it would be great.

You totally need to check out Pandora. It also has an Adobe AIR app. Actually, I think I'll submit it as a story.

Apache does have a ton of features and momentum that IIS will never have. Especially involved are plugins for Apache that take advantage of specialized hardware and enormous amounts of RAM. Just like Sun is supporting Apache on a Linux stack now, perhaps Microsoft (like Dave said) is trying to polish Apache up for a Windows stack.

A reasonable start for the maligned record industry(aka anti mp3) but if it locks you into a single label it seems kind of pointless.

Have to agree. What in the world is Microsoft doing supporting open source? I think I saw another article mentioning that Microsoft had actually assisted with some Apache projects in the past. Perhaps it has to do with the popularity of PHP. They are hoping to get in on some of the PHP action...and maybe even get people running Apache on Windows. If they can't beat Apache/PHP maybe they can join with them and continue beating on Linux.

I think they are slightly influenced by their customer base of mainly enterprise companies, so adhere to the balance sheets.

The interface is spinning from a different slant, maybe a little offshot with image selection and result set but the "explore by category" seems a valid asset.

Great! I was wondering if a new version was out.
For me the cool thing about OpenOffice is that I can run it on Windows, OSX, and Ubuntu. At home I run XP, at work OSX, and when traveling, I run Xubuntu on an ancient Compaq PIII
