Interesting article, but even more interesting were the comments (I LOVE commenting systems by the way! I usually find out more from the comments then the actual article!)
The first comment seems to indicate this family was buying up domain names for cybersquatting.
By the way, The Narnia movies are GREAT! C.S. Lewis was awsome!

I don't trust Gartner. They seem to sell out to the highest bidder.
I used to live in an area that will probably never see cable or DSL, so I just don't buy these predictions.

Very cool!
Google makes some great products. I encourage most of my family and friends to get Gmail because then they can switch ISP's without worrying about their email address.

EeePC would have been sweet @ $199. Thats really how much it should be.

This has nothing to do with Foods, you liar.

An interesting product if it reaches the masses. I guess the OS it ships with will have a large impact upon it's general success. I have a feeling it won't be running Vista too soon.

Interesting article. Blankenhorn put himself on the line with this article, its not p.c.

A fascinating new concept...While probably not perfectly implemented, it indicates a significant move towards addressing a different market segment while still appealing to an individual's desire for prestige. Nexon's Combat Arms offers similar features.

betrays? it's a company dedicated to profits with severe control issues. Microsoft will be a kids tale if Apple ever replaces them.
I really do think MAC clones are inevitable. As technology advances it becomes easier all the time to bypass security with abstract layers or virtualization.

Sweet! I wonder what the screen resolution will be? Not a bad price if they actually sell them at that price point.
On the other hand, the Asus EEEPC was supposed to sell at $199.

I have to say that I really don't think Mac should be too concerned about these clones. Mac has always had a reputation for being exclusive, and along with this comes a great deal of brand loyalty. People who use macs put there trust not just in the OS, but also in the hardware and design of Apple products. As an avid Apple user myself I can say that I would not settle for any sort of clone, no matter how cheap it is. I've also done a great deal of work on Apple laptops and can say that they are built far better than alot of PC's. Essentially you get what you pay for. So far, the hacked PC emulators of OSX have been full of bugs. If there's one thing Mac has, it's brand loyalty, so I really doubt there will be any significant drop in their sales, and anyone who betrays Mac for a clone doesn't really deserve to own a Mac anyways...

I tried it and the layout was absolutely wretched imo. I couldn't see the links easily for what sites were what, and a lot of the fonts were difficult to read. I hesitate to draw the comparison, but they looked like Mac fonts - too small for the space they are in.

I can attest to this - my daughter's high school offers an IB degree, and they are talking about developing a class like this in the Business department. Maybe she'll be able to help me with my area rugs site: http://www.abingdonrugoutlet.com

I was really fan of Gmail, bcoz it introduced many new features (including impressive UI experiences). And also it forced every free email service providers to increase the size limit of the emails that time. :)

A very nice additional from Google. While I don't really use a Gmail account - this feature should become standard across email providers.

Smart move on Sony's part. They are losing the battle to Amazon's Kindle, but moving to an open standard will help them...though it won't be enough. They need to step up their game significantly.
