This is great news seeing the alternatives including Watchfire and Acunetix both cost in the thousands of dollars (and Watchfire well over $10k). Unfortunately, the lack of a ready compiled method is unfortunate - especially for Windows.

Sounds like a good move to me. Protect the victims, not the perpetrators.

hmmm...doesn't the fact he is a terrorist indicate he has problems? :-)

Citysense: Let's You Know What Everybody's Doing
I think that would be fairly easy to figure out anyway. If a terrorist couldn't figure that out, then he has problems.

Avoiding SQL injection attacks is pretty straightforward - moving to a stored procedure system ends any hackers ability to enter a variable that includes malicious code.

Well, there should be! Security needs to be top priority, in my humble opinion.

Apple caught neglecting iPhone security
Fascinating. Though Apple can do no wrong...so there won't be much of an outcry.

Good observation. Unfortunately, I think you're right.

Hmmm...It seems to me that this could have some significant security implications. Allowing terrorists to see where the most people are at any given moment?

On a lighter note, Stacey Higginbotham drops her relative age when she states she's been waiting nearly a fifth of her life for the U-verse and that its been around six years. 6*5=30.

Wow. Powerset wasn't even out of the pen yet. I'm a bit surprised, but then again - seeing this is the same technology (Hadoop) Yahoo is built on and Microsoft just failed in its Yahoo bid...perhaps it isn't surprising. Though why not just build it themselves?

Microsoft, Now Loving Hadoop
Yes, this is a nifty offering from Microsoft. Though I think the $70/yr. is a bit high for an annual subscription. Should be $25-$30. Especially since OpenOffice.org offers such great competition software for free!

The funny thing is...we always wait for disaster. Unfortunately, it isn't usually until we have experienced a disaster that we rise up in arms over it.

Seems to me securing our infrastructure should be a top priority! Let's not wait for a disaster to deal with this.

Bleak prospects for privacy
There was a lawsuit about that a couple years ago and Google confirmed that the scripts running to identify advertisements are anonymous and can not be used to track your emails or rebuild them.

Bleak prospects for privacy
I don't like the lack of privacy on the web - like when I wrote an email to my mother in Yellowstone National Park using gmail and realized that there were all kinds of ads on the side having to do with "mothers", "Yellowstone National Park", "vacation" and anything else I might have mentioned in the email. I had thought MY email was MY email!
