Google Launching Speech-to-Search iPhone App Today
I think if your personal email goes down you feel a bit disappointed as it is something you depend upon on a daily basis and trust the provider to deliver a concrete service although free.

Google cries foul over coverage of Apps outages
Online backup makes tons of sense to me. If you have a little/medium amount of data its probably worth just using a hosted service. Otherwise, rent out a half-cage at a colo somewhere on the other side of the country and pipe data that way.

Did you ever consider the price for some coffee at Starbucks is the same price for some drugs? Kinda crazy if you ask me.

Why free Wi-Fi could (help) save Starbucks
Mmm...and this is why the stock market is broke. I don't think these losses are a result of bad decisions on Yahoo's part but a general impetus amongst stockholders to sell stocks on any company that isn't always dramatically growing profits. This short-term mindset, in my opinion, isn't useful for real economic growth...and both companies and investors should take this into consideration for a stabler economy.

Facebook surely is less of a profit market for scamming than somewhere like ebay. I guess the scammers are mixing up a bit.

I love these ideas. I really want my car to drive itself, but hey - staying out of accidents is still a huge step. If I was a millionaire, I'd be dropping cash into this idea like there was no tomorrow. Tens of thousands of people die every year in these preventable accidents.

I'll continue to insist that a nice little Dell PowerEdge 2U server (29xx series) will be a better investment. Alternatively, one could use cloud storage - e.g. Jungle Disk.

I have not a doubt in my mind that free wi-fi is good for business. The costs are SO low and the results SO high. You have a low monthly cost (say $100/mo.) and in return your customers stay longer and new customers are drawn in. Its a no-brainer.

Sneakey Robbers Turn to the Social Web
The storm botnet seems like an email providers worst nightmare. It reminds me of an article a while back regarding it's usage and the ability for people to hire out time with it for denial of service attacks. Quite amazing.

OpenOffice.org launches first native Mac OS X suite
I love OpenOffice. Now I can use the same application on my Mac at work, PC at home, or Xubuntu Laptop while traveling. And it's FREE. The only downside is that it doesn't work like MS Office. But once you learn, your far far better off because you don't have to keep paying M$ for the latest and greatest. Switch now, save later....
