I've seen jumbo frames help with problems - such as slow speeds, but much more often I've seen jumbo frames wreak major havoc. If you install them make sure to perform extensive testing following their configuration, as even devices that support them may not play nice.

I would like to use jumbo frames at my work, but yes, i haven't done extensive testing so I'm not even considering anything until I can do that. There seems to be a lot of room for error.

Yeah, unfortunately there is...and hardware support seems to lack standardization - so just because a Broadcom and Intel NIC both support it doesn't mean they will play nice.
