Purpose.

     Informed Networker was created by David Mackey after several years of utilizing the then-dominant social news media networks - Slashdot and Digg. He was disappointed with the first because of its lack of a true democratic voting environment and by the second as it grew in popularity and lost its technology focus. He also recognized that while both services were utilized by a large number of Information Technology Professionals, neither was specifically oriented at the professional. Recognizing the need for a social news media network specifically focused on IT Professionals and covering the topics of interest to them David Mackey set out to found Informed Networker. Thus, Informed Networker serves as a single, aggregated source driven by the community of Information Technology news and articles.


Who are We?

Senior Management:

David Mackey - David is originally from Westerlo, New York. He moved to Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia to attend Philadelphia Biblical University where he received his Bachelors in Bible. While there he continued his pursuit of computing expertise by working in several IT related positions. Following his graduation he was hired by Collages.net Inc. (a complete workflow solution for professional photographers) as a network engineer where he has been employed for three years. In this position he held a place of primary responsibility for the network infrastructure - including firewalls, switches, load balancers, servers, storage arrays, and workstations. He was challenged with issues of scalability, reliability, and security throughout his tenure. He is currently transitioning into a full-time position leading Informed Networker.

Andrew Vogel - Andrew is originally from Brookhaven, Pennsylvania. He began school studying CSCI at Widener University and after a year and a half transferred to Philadelphia Biblical University where he graduated with a Bachelors in Bible. He currently is the head of IT for Olympic Tool & Machine Corporation and also Folsom Tool & Mold. He plans to continue studies in Old Testament language and theology at Wheaton College.

Margaret Mackey - Margaret is originally from Syracuse, New York. She studied Biology at The College of St. Rose. She's a mother of seven, runs a mini-farm, and is a talented medical transcriptionist. In the far future she hopes to assist the poor - perhaps by working at a orphanage.

Kazi Golam Rabbany - Kazi is from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He studied at American International University (Bangladesh) and received a Bachelors in Computer Science. Kazi works in a tireless manner on a variety of web 2.0 projects and looks forward to the day when he will lead his own successful company. He'd also like to find a planet just for himself (in his dreams).

Paul Mackey - Paul is originally from Westerlo, NY. Spent a year at Wisconsin Wilderness Campus, an extension of Philadelphia Biblical University and is currently continuing to pursue education in the field of Youth Ministry. Eventually Paul wants to spend his time running effective college ministries, pastoring a church, and climbing mountains. He also happens to be a big Mac geek.
Jon Hui - Jon's hometown is Corpus Christi, TX. He received a Bachelors in Bible and a Bachelors in Social Work from Philadelphia Biblical University. He is currently employed by Richter Architects.

Information Technology Department:

Atul Arora (Web/Graphic Development) - Atul received his Bachelors in Commerce from M.M. Modi College and then received a Masters in Information Technology from Punjab Technical University. He has also studied at the Software Technology Group in Patiala and Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. Atul has done extensive quality work across a wide variety of web/graphic technologies including mockups, logos, icons, characters, flash, animations, and print media. He currently freelances through his own business and oDesk.
