This is a fascinating article by Stephen Lawson on Lloyd Watts' approach to eliminating the echo and background noise that are so often problematic with cell phones. Watts is CTO of Audience, which is based in Mountain View, California. In February he introduced a custom chip, the key to which is the Fast Cochlea Transform process, which "attempts to do the same thing as the cochlea, a spiral chamber in the inner ear." read more »
